Vote 2009: The PERE Awards go live

Voting is now open for the fourth annual readers’ poll hosted by PERENews.com and PERE magazine. Who will clinch industry figure of the year? Which firm mattered the most in 2009?

2009 has been a memorable year for all – from the depths of despair at the state of the global real estate markets to (cautious) optimism about the distressed opportunities beginning to emerge.

However, which firm mattered most in your mind? Which deal captured imaginations and who stood out from the crowd in 2009? Was John Grayken’s Lone Star ahead of the game, or did Barry Sternlicht’s Starwood Capital have first mover advantage?

You can now have your say in the PERE Awards 2009, which opened for voting today.

Hosted by PERENews.com and PERE magazine the annual readers poll is the only global private real estate investment and finance awards voted on entirely by the industry. There is no sponsorship, no panel of judges, just your vote.

Readers even get the chance to nominate the people, deals and organisations they feel most deserve recognition in 2009. All you have to do is simply click on a category below and nominate your choice of firm, deal or person, or choose from one of four existing nominations.

Remember, this year we have presented four suggestions in each category to aid the voting process, but the fifth box is the most important. If you believe an alternative person, deal or firm should win, use your vote to say so.

You don’t have to vote in every region or category: just the ones relevant to you. The rules are simple: you can only vote once and you can't vote for your own firm.

Voting is open until 22 January, 2010, with the results published simultaneously on PERENews.com and in PERE magazine in March 2010.
