VinaCapital appoints Probitas professional

The Vietnam-focused firm has hired Stacy Kincaid as fund portfolio managing director. Kincaid was previously managing fund placement projects in San Francisco at Probitas Partners.

VinaCapital Group has hired Stacy Kincaid to become the Vietnam-focused firm’s fund portfolio managing director.

Kincaid was most recently managing a number of private equity fund placements at Probitas Partners based in San Francisco.

She has joined Ho Chi Minh City-based VinaCapital to oversee the structuring and capital raising efforts for the firm’s investments including real estate and infrastructure projects.

Kincaid said in a statement that Vietnam was one of the few countries worldwide that would post positive economic growth in 2009. She said there was still sustainable demand across many sectors, and that inflation had subsided and domestic banks had liquidity to support economic development.

“Country-focused emerging market funds may not be for everyone, but the opportunities available in Vietnam should not be overlooked,” she said.

VinaCapital manages more than $1.6 billion of assets including the Metropole Hanoi Hotel, the Hilton Hanoi Opera Hotel, and the Sheraton Nha Trang Hotel.

Don Lam, chief executive, said in the statement that Kincaid’s arrival meant the firm could “communicate the opportunities available in Vietnam to investors around the world.”
