SURS approves €75m commitment

The US public pension has backed Blackstone's newest European real estate fund.

State Universities Retirement System of Illinois (SURS) has committed €75 million to Blackstone Real Estate Partners Europe VI, according to a press release on the pension’s website.

The $17.69 billion US public pension has a 10.0 percent target allocation to real estate that currently stands at 8.60 percent.

As illustrated in the charts below, SURS has a varied real estate investment strategy. Its last five commitments to real estate funds comprise of two opportunistic funds and one fund each focusing on value-add, core plus and mezzanine / debt.
