EXCLUSIVE: Colony hires European fundraiser

The Los Angeles-based real estate and investment firm has hired placement agent Christophe de Taurines to assist with its fundraising efforts in Europe.

Colony Capital, the Los Angeles-based real estate and investment firm, has hired Christophe de Taurines as a senior advisor.

de Taurines, the founder and chief executive of European placement agent Capital & Marketing, starts on July 1 and will aid Colony’s fundraising efforts based in London.

Prior to setting up Capital & Marketing, de Taurine was previously European head of the real estate private funds group of Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette (now Credit Suisse) where he raised various private equity funds in Europe and the Middle East, totalling €1.9 billion of equity.

Before this he was a managing director of LaSalle Investment Management, a vice-president at Citibank in the corporate real estate team, and an assistant vice-president at Credit Commercial de France in its debt capital markets team.

Earlier this month, PERE reported that Colony was set to launch Colony Distressed Credit & Special Situations Fund (CDCF) IV which has a fundraising target of $2.5 billion, of which $500 million will be invested by the firm.

CDCF IV is coming to market less than a year after the final close of its predecessor, CDCF III, last October. The firm has spoken with its existing investors about the new fund, although no private placement memorandum has yet been issued.

Colony Capital, founded in 1991, invests opportunistically in real estate, non-performing loans, distressed assets, real estate-dependent operating companies and developments around the world.
