Kaye Scholer poaches DLA’s PE chief

Law firm Kaye Scholer has hired Andrew Harris to lead the expansion of its London practice.

Andrew Harris will be joining international law firm Kaye Scholer from DLA Piper, where he was a senior equity partner and head of its private equity practice.

Harris, who has acted for private equity houses, management teams, listed and non-listed corporations, will be tasked with leading the expansion of the firm’s London branch. Harris’ responsibilities will include the recruitment of new lawyers and talent.

Why the firm felt the need to expand is perhaps indicative of future private equity and M&A market activity. ’'Will [private equity and M&A markets] return to the levels of activity in 2006 and 2007? Possibly, but not in the near future. That said, will we see meaningful levels of activity during the course of the next year and into 2012? Absolutely,'' said Harris.

Founded in New York City in 1917, Kaye Scholer has 450 lawyers in nine offices around the globe.

In recent years Kaye Scholer has represented a number of private equity firms including Arlington Capital Partners, Wind Point Partners and Red Diamond Capital.
