Not so long ago, fund services ticked over quietly behind the scenes. That is certainly not the case now. It is front and center of the fund management business. In fact, its old moniker – the ‘back office’ – is considered a pejorative term. And it is clear the critical role technology and data play in delivering top-class, efficient fund services. Far too often referred to as a business disruptor, it is time to view technology as business enhancing at both the management company and asset level. Managers that continue swimming against the tech tide will risk getting left behind.
