CP Eaton expands Shanghai office

Alex Edwards will spearhead the placement agent’s development in South Asia, New Zealand and his home country of Australia.

Alex Edwards has joined CP Eaton Partners’ Shanghai office as vice president.

Edwards has 14 years of international experience in the financial services industry under his belt, 10 years of which were spent in Asia Pacific, the firm said.

He joined from Franklin Templeton where he was based in Hong Kong and London. Before that, Edward was a vice president at investment bank Credit Suisse First Boston and worked in London, Zurich, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Sydney and New York. He began his career with MLC, the wealth management division of the National Australia Bank in Sydney.

Based in the Shanghai office, which operates as a base for the firm’s Asia Pacific business development, Edwards will “lead the company’s development in Australia, New Zealand and South Asia,” according to a statement.

“We looked forward to tapping into his expertise as we expand our presence in the Asia-Pacific region, especially in his native Australia,” said Ed Greene, a Shanghai-based managing director in CP Eaton.

Greene headed the firm’s expansion into Asia with the opening of its first Asian office in Shanghai in 2007. At that time, it had successfully launched four independent Asia-dedicated funds.
