Corestate hires Europe team

Four additional appointments for private equity real estate firm Corestate Capital, including former professionals of Oppenheimer, Morgan Stanley, JER and Hudson Advisors.

Corestate Capital, the Zug-based private equity real estate firm, has added four professionals to its ranks as it continues to strengthen its team.

The European firm, with €1.5 billion of assets under management, has taken on Jerry Melchionna, a former managing director at German real estate advisor, Oppenheimer Investments AG in the US, where he managed a global team of structured and project finance professionals advising on infrastructure and real investments in the Middle East and Eastern Europe. He will be based in London.

His appointment is one of three for the London HQ; Sebastian Zilles, has joined as an associate having previously worked for Argoneo Real Estate and Morgan Stanley in Frankfurt. Julien Abello – also an associate – previously worked at JER's London-based investment team, where he held an analyst role dedicated to monitoring commercial assets in Finland, Switzerland and the UK.

In the Frankfurt office, Marco Lüder has joined as director of the commercial portfolio asset management team having previously held positions at Inovalis and Lone Star’s loan servicing group, Hudson Advisors in Germany.

Phillip Burns, chief executive officer, who himself joined just this year, said the new recruits would strengthen Corestate’s pan-European platform “to take advantage of market opportunities as they arise”.

Former Terra Firma dealmaker Burns added: “The growth of the Corestate business is based on its ability to execute and manage very complex transactions and we believe that these new additions strongly complement our existing team.”
