CBRE GI appoints Glass to lead Australia transactions

The global investment manager has hired the former GIC and Charter Hall executive to lead its direct investments in Australia.

CBRE Global Investors has appointed Andrew Glass as managing director of its Australia operations as the global real estate investment management firm looks to expand its base in the country. Glass will lead the firm’s direct investment program, which will target key domestic markets and support the investment strategies of the global fund management business.

Glass comes to CBRE Global Investors with more than 25 years of commercial real estate experience. Previously, he headed the unlisted platform for commingled funds at property fund manager Charter Hall Group and also served as the senior vice president for  real estate operations at Singaporean sovereign wealth fund GIC Private Limited.

The appointment comes at a time when the Australian real estate market is seeing a flurry of investment by foreign institutional investors, particularly Chinese buyers.

“We continue to see attractive investment opportunities in Australia,” said Richard Price, CBRE Global Investors' chief executive officer for Asia-Pacific, in a statement announcing the hire. “With his combination of local and international experience, Andrew is very well positioned to help us actively pursue those opportunities for our clients in Australia and around the world.”
