Carlyle fundraiser joins Bentall Kennedy

Doug Kinney has left Carlyle after nearly four years to join Bentall Kennedy’s Chicago office.

Doug Kinney, the Carlyle Group’s former managing director of real estate capital formation, has joined Bentall Kennedy in a newly-created role, the firm said Friday.

Kinney’s responsibilities include client relations and new product initiatives across Bentall Kennedy’s US funds. Based in the Chicago office, he reports to chief executive Gary Whitelaw. He will join both the firm’s group management committee and the US management committee.

Prior to this new role, Kinney worked at Carlyle since September 2012, according to his LinkedIn profile. He previously worked at placement agent Greenhill, Credit Suisse’s private real estate fund group and Heitman.

“The opportunity to join the senior leadership team of a rapidly-growing company like Bentall Kennedy was very attractive to me,” Kinney told PERE. “It's an exciting time in this industry, and I'm pleased to join a firm that's at the forefront.”

Toronto-based Bentall Kennedy, a subsidiary of Sun Life Investment Management, has about $23 billion in assets under management, according to the firm’s statement.
