CalSTRS appoints deputy CIO

The $225 billion US public pension fund has selected its third deputy CIO since 2010.

The California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS) named Scott Chan deputy chief investment officer. He will assume his post on 1 August 2018.

Chan is replacing Michelle Cunningham, who retired in late 2017. Chan will report to the pension scheme chief investment officer, Christopher Ailman.

Chan is the former chief investment officer in University of California Regents (UC Regents) and Sacramento County Employees’ Retirement System.
