CalPERS appoints new CIO

Stephen Gilmore has been announced as new chief investment officer.

California Public Employees’ Retirement System have announced that Stephen Gilmore will become the $487 billion pension funds new chief investment officer. Stephen is expected to take over the role in July after spending more than 5 years at New Zealand Superannuation Fund. New Zealand Superannuation Fund manages NZ$72.2 billion ($43.8 billion; €40.4 billion) and has a current allocation of 17.91 percent to private markets. CalPERS private markets allocation sits at 30.7 percent, the pension has recently proposed increasing its allocation from 33 percent to 40 percent.
