Brookfield raises $2.43bn

Brookfield Asset Management has raised $2.4 billion to date for its Brookfield Real Estate Finance Fund V, per a SEC filing. The Toronto-headquartered firm has set an undisclosed target and began fundraising in 2016. The SEC filing did not disclose whether the capital raise constituted a final or interim close. 

Its previous fund raised $1.4 billion in 2014.

Investors that committed to Brookfield Real Estate Finance Fund V include the New York State Teachers' Retirement System (NYSTRS), the Korean Teachers Credit Union (KTCU) and the Chicago Policemen's Annuity & Benefits Fund.

The fund will target unitranche opportunities in a diverse number of properties in North America.
