AXA REIM appoints Dennis Lopez as global CIO

The former SUN Real Estate, Cambridge Place and JP Morgan executive has been appointed to lead the firm’s real estate fund management business.

Paris-based AXA REIM has bolstered its senior management board with the appointment of Dennis Lopez as global chief investment officer, responsible for the group’s fund management activities.

Reporting to group chief executive officer Pierre Vaquier, Lopez will be responsible for “the quality and consistency of investment services as well as the performances delivered to all AXA REIM clients” according to an announcement on his appointment released today.

Lopez joined from SUN Real Estate, where he was chief executive officer. At SUN RE, an emerging markets investment house led by India’s Khemka family, he led the firm’s businesses in the UK, Russia and India. He joined SUN RE in 2008 from Cambridge Place Investment Management, where he was global head of real estate. He has also worked for JP Morgan as a managing director and as head of European real estate.

Vaquier said: “Dennis will coordinate the management of the complete range of AXA REIM funds, and will contribute to the expansion of AXA REIM activities, bringing his global view on business and key expertise for managing our clients’ portfolios.”

AXA REIM is among the biggest real estate fund managers in Europe with €39.5 billion of assets under management currently.
