WP Carey executive, Johnathan Richard Perry, was one of the victims of the US plane crash last week that killed 49 people, the firm has said.
Perry, head of WP Carey’s international asset management group, was travelling to Buffalo with his girlfriend to spend time with her family for the President’s Day holiday, the firm said in a commemoration on its website.
All 48 people on board the Q400 Bombardier aircraft were killed when it crashed into a house near Clarence Center, close to Buffalo Niagara International Airport. One person on the ground was also killed.
Perry, 28, joined WP Carey in 2002 straight out of Wharton School, at the University of Pennsylvania, and helped the firm open its Amsterdam office last summer.
The firm said in a statement: “John was a good manager and a very hard working individual. During his period with WP Carey, John was responsible for numerous restructurings, dispositions, refinancings, releasings and other value creation activities for our investors. His capacity for hard work was exceptional, as well as his passion for living a full life.
“He had a love for travel, for friendship and for helping others. He is deeply missed by all his friends and colleagues.”
