Trikona hires Maharaja to advise on hotel business

The Indian real estate firm has appointed His Highness Maharaja Gajsingh of Jodhpur as chairman of its hospitality affiliate, Apodis. It follows the appointment of former CalPERS' real estate investment officer Mike McCook as advisor, and Dr PS Rana, former Hudco chairman, to lead its real estate and infrastructure projects.

Trikona Group has added another notable to its stable of real estate companies after appointing His Highness Maharaja Gajsingh of Jodhpur to help develop its hospitality affiliate, Apodis Hospitality.

In a statement, Trikona said the Maharaja, president of the Indian Heritage Hotels Association, would provide “strategic guidance” to the affiliate.

The Maharaja is the latest in a line of prominent names drafted in to help the Indian real estate investment firm. Trikona has also appointed former California Public Employees Retirement System real estate senior investment officer, Mike McCook, as consultant and Dr. PS Rana, the former chairman and managing director of India’s largest housing and utility infrastructure company, the Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO), to head its real estate and infrastructure projects.

The Maharaja succeeded his father at the age of four following his death in a plane crash. After studying in Oxford, England, Gaj Singh took up his title in 1970. In 1971, the then-government of Indira Gandhi abolished the titles and privy purses of all Indian rulers.
