Tribeca adds two to deal, capital-raising team

The San-Francisco-based private equity real estate firm has appointed ex-Highland Realty Capital executive Adam Aasen and former Goldman Sachs manager Martin Walsh as director of investments and director of private capital, respectively.

Tribeca Companies has hired two new real estate directors as it looks to expand its operations targeting Western US markets.

The San Francisco-based firm said in a statement it had hired former Highland Realty Capital executive Adam Aasen as director of investments, and former managing director at Goldman Sachs, Martin Walsh, as director of private capital. Aasen will be responsible for structuring investments and “maintaining the firm’s relationships within the capital markets” while Walsh will oversee business development and capital-raising efforts, the firm said in a statement.

At Highland, Aasen was responsible for the structuring and capitalisation of new and existing debt and equity financings for developer and investor clients. He also previously served as an investment officer at private equity real estate firm Buchanan Street Partners.

Walsh worked with Goldman Sachs’ investment management division in New York, primarily managing private capital on behalf of high-net-worth groups, before moving to San Francisco to develop the firm’s relationships with families and companies in California.

Last December, Tribeca purchased a group of ten apartment buildings in the San Francisco Bay area by buying $62 million of non-performing mortgages secured against the properties for 50 cents on the dollar. The buildings were acquired from the buildings’ lender, UBS AG.
