Townsend opens office in London

The real estate consultant has hired former Cushman & Wakefield partner Adam Calman to lead its push into Europe. Townsend is consultant to $126.4bn California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS), the Government of Thailand and ATP in Denmark.

The Townsend Group has opened an office in London and hired former Cushmand & Wakefield partner Adam Calman to lead its expansion in the region.

The Cleveland, Ohio-based real estate consultant is one of the largest real estate advisors in the US advising pension funds with more than $100 billion in allocations to the asset class.

Calman has joined Townsend in London as principal and head of Europe. He was previously equity partner with Cushman & Wakefield, co-leading the firm’s corporate finance team and advising institutional LPs on investments in indirect property funds and derivatives.

Townsend, which was recently voted Global and North American advisor of the year in the 2008 Global PERE Awards, is consultant to the $126.4 billion California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS), the Government of Thailand and ATP in Denmark. 

Townsend currently has offices in Cleveland, Ohio, San Francisco and Denver.
