Tishman Speyer hires Credit Suisse’s Schäfer as MD

The New York-based developer said Frank Schäfer will be tasked with expanding its institutional investment activities in Germany.

Tishman Speyer, the New York-based developer and investment manager, has hired Frank Schäfer as managing director.

Schafer’s main responsibility, the firm said, will be to expand the firm’s institutional investment management business Germany.

Prior to joining Tishman Speyer, Frank Schäfer was at Swiss bank Credit Suisse from 2009, where he held several senior leadership positions, including global head product and business development for the real estate investment management division and managing director for the German KVG business.

Before joining Credit Suisse, Schafer spent eight years working in the German and Swiss offices of UBS Global Asset Management, the real asset management arm of the Swiss bank.

Tishman Speyer said Schafer assumed his role on June 1.

Tishman Speyer's two most recent deals took place in China. In April, the developer teamed up with Beijing-based retail investment manager CreditEase Wealth Management to source around $1.5 billion worth of new opportunities in China over the next three years. While in July 2016, Tishman Speyer targeted around $1 billion of investment in the Chinese city of Shenzhen.
