The 2021 PERE Global Awards are back, bigger than ever and have new categories for private real estate’s universe of investors, managers and advisers to enter.
The 16th edition of the sector’s most coveted awards now include: ESG Firm of Year: Global; ESG Firm of the Year: North America; ESG Firm of the Year: Europe; and ESG Firm of the Year: Asia. These categories have been introduced in reflection of the surge in activity on both environmental and social fronts, with carbon cutting and social impact initiatives in particular among investors and managers proliferating substantially.
Further, just as escalating proptech capital markets precipitated the launch of our inaugural Proptech 20 ranking in April, we are following up with the launch of a dedicated award for organizations making notable strides in capital formation and deployment in the sector.
These awards are added to the long-standing categories that have made up PERE’s annual awards for many years. For the full list of awards click here and see below. In total, the 2021 PERE Global Awards comprise 70 awards, including the editorial-chosen Lifetime Achievement Award.
Last year’s awards attracted almost 10,000 votes. Also significant, they attracted more than 400 submissions from organizations keen to be noticed for their achievements in the previous year, an increase of more than 100 percent on the 2019 awards. Given the high level of inquiries for this year’s awards, we are expecting to receive more nominations this time around.
In the past year, PERE has witnessed a new world order of institutionally investible asset classes crystalize, with logistics and residential strategies dominating wish lists alongside certain alternative asset classes and the staple asset type, offices, become a quagmire of concern and confusion. With higher standards in ESG and technology advances becoming weaved into the most effective strategies, we also expect to see a generation of organizations best able to grapple with today’s challenging times emerge as winners.

The deadline for submissions is November 19 after which senior team members from PERE and parent company PEI Media will consider these alongside our field research and outreach to trusted industry leaders to construct the strongest possible shortlists of nominations for each. Each shortlist comprises four candidates. Submissions are not a prerequisite for entry but are useful for aiding selection committees with their choices. Once determined, voting for the awards will be launched on December 6. You will have the chance to determine which investors, managers, advisers and individuals deserve to be crowned for their efforts in the past 12-month period. Voting closes on January 7, 2022 and the winners will be announced on March 1.
