The 17th edition of private real estate’s most anticipated awards is launching today with our customary call for submissions.
The 2022 PERE Global Awards are bigger once again too, with 72 categories this time around for institutional managers, investors and their advisers to contest.
In a notable difference to last year, we are introducing four categories dedicated to activity in data centers and other digital forms of physical real estate. This is an acknowledgement of exponentially growing activity from institutional investors and managers in the sector.
The first half of this year alone accounted for data center investments exceeding $24 billion in value, according to JLL, equivalent to 50 percent of all digital real estate deals concluded in 2021. The broker has witnessed the sector growing at a compound annual rate of 15 percent for the last 10 years, making it now the fifth biggest institutional-grade real estate sector, closely behind multifamily and logistics, hitherto the industry darlings of property types.
Annual spending on cloud services is expected to surpass $200 billion in 2022, as per JLL’s research, up from $178 billion in 2021 and $129.5 billion in 2020. Given that trajectory, and with supply and development constraints likely to see the data industry’s real estate remain resilient to inflationary and energy crisis pressures, PERE determined now is the right time to award those in the private real estate sector looking to capture the opportunity arising from these dynamics.
For the first time, firms can submit to be nominated in:
Data Center Firm of the Year: Global;
Data Center Firm of the Year: North America;
Data Center Firm of the Year: Europe;
Data Center Firm of the Year: Asia.
Following the introduction of ESG and Proptech Firm of the Year categories last year, the PERE Global Awards consistently aim to reflect the ever-changing conditions and trends of the private real estate capital markets.
These categories sit beside our longstanding categories including Firm, Investor, Capital Raise, Capital Advisory and those dedicated to asset classes and specific geographies.
Last year’s awards attracted approximately 20,000 votes across 71 categories, twice as many as was collected in 2020. That is testament to the prestige and validity of private real estate’s only global awards where the winners are voted for by you, our trusted readers.
We look forward to determining the nominations for this year’s awards, a process that starts today with our call for submissions.
