SURS commits $225m to real assets

The US-based public pension has backed a real estate fund.

State Universities Retirement System of Illinois has approved a $225 million commitment to Clarion Lion Properties Fund, according to a recent press release.

This is a newly established relationship between SURS and Clarion Partners.

Illinois SURS has an allocation of 5.8 percent to real estate, below its target of 8 percent. Its recent fund commitments have predominately focused on the North America region.
