Schroders set for Nordics push

UK fund manager Schroder Property has tapped Aberdeen Property Investors' Ubbe Strihagen in Sweden to oversee business development in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Iceland. Strihagen will use his contacts with investors to push Schroder’s international funds as well as grow the firm’s business in the region.

Schroder Property has appointed Ubbe Strihagen as director of business development for the Nordic region.

Strihagen, who was international director responsible for global business development and marketing at Aberdeen Property Investors, joins Schroders in October, the firm said.

It is the second hire from Aberdeen following the appointment of Christoffer Sundberg in July as head of property fund management in the region. Sundberg was head of Aberdeen’s Finnish fund.

Strihagen will report to Mike Clarke, head of property distribution, said Schroders.

In a statement, Clarke said: “One of our key objectives following (the) acquisition of Aareal Asset Management last year was to strengthen Schroders’ property business in the Nordics.”

He added that some Nordic institutional investors had been at the forefront of international diversification in real estate through unlisted funds. However, there were many who were still “at an early stage” in their international allocations. Clarke said Strihagen would use his network of relationships in the region to increase awareness of Schroders’ range of property funds and strengthen its Nordic business.
