Pennsylvania State Employees’ Retirement System approves $500m commitment

The U.S. public pension has decided to support a real estate, private debt and private equity focused funds.

Pennsylvania State Employees’ Retirement System has approved the recommendations from the Independent Counsel Committee to commit up to $100 million to TSG8, which focuses on middle-market buyouts of branded consumer companies. Similarly, the pension fund has also committed $100 million to Apollo Hybrid Value Fund, which will primarily focus on private equity/credit investments located in North America. Furthermore, within the real estate asset class, the fund committed $300 million to Oak Street Real Estate Capital Net Lease Property Fund, it focuses on a series of funds targeting triple-net lease strategies in North America.  

The $29.7 billion US public pension has 12 percent target allocation to private equity real estate that currently stands at 7.6 percent and it has 16 percent target allocation to private equity that currently stands at 13.7 percent
