Och-Ziff hires Morgan Stanley Asia team

Zain Fancy, Roy Kwok, Bharat Khanna and Anand Madduri have joined New York's Och-Ziff to build out its Asia real estate platform.

New York-based Och-Ziff Capital Management Group has hired Morgan Stanley's senior Asia Pacific real estate professional, Zain Fancy, as well as Roy Kwok, Bharat Khanna and Anand Madduri for its Asia business.

In a statement, Och-Ziff said the four had been hired as executive managing directors of Och-Ziff Asia Real Estate.

Fancy is the most senior of the four, being managing director and head of Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing (MSREI) in the region. Kwok was previously the deputy head of MSREI China and Khanna was formerly head of MSREI India. Madduri was previously the managing director and portfolio manager for MSREI’s special situations fund for Asia.

Fancy, Kwok, Khanna and Madduri will be based in Singapore, China, India and Hong Kong respectively, according to Och-Ziff.

Dan Och, chairman and chief executive, said the hires would allow the firm to identify new opportunities.

The departures from Morgan Stanley come two months after the firm became a bank holding company. At the time, the firm said it did not expect there to be limitations that would “have a material impact” on Morgan Stanley's overall business.
