NYSTRS commits $200m to real estate

The US pension fund has made commitments to two new private real estate funds.

New York State Teacher’s Retirement System has committed $200 million to two new real estate funds: $50 million to Cabot Industrial Value Fund VII and $150 million to Artemis Debt Separate Account.

Cabot Industrial Value Fund VII is a value-add fund investing in the industrial sector within North American, Western Europe and Asia-Pacific regions. Cabot Properties seventh fund recently held a first close on $1.33 billion in May.

NYSTRS has a current allocation of 13.1 percent to private real estate, which is over its target allocation of 11 percent.
