New York State Common Retirement Fund has committed $300 million to Waterton Residential Property Venture XV, according to a recent monthly transaction report.
This is a new relationship for NYSCRF, which has an allocation of 10.48% to real estate. Founded in 1995, Waterton focuses on US multifamily and hospitality properties.
The fund will be focused on acquiring and operating value-add apartments across the top 30-40 metropolitan statistical areas in the US (based on population).
The recent commitments from NYSCRF have focused on opportunistic, proptech and core strategies, in various sectors.
