New York State Common Retirement Fund approves $500m commitment

The US public pension has backed Blackstone's multi-regional opportunistic private real estate fund.

New York State Common Retirement Fund has agreed to commit up to $500 million to Blackstone Real Estate Partners IX, according to the pension’s December 2018 monthly report. Blackstone’s Real Estate Partners IX fund has a multi-regional opportunistic focus.

The $192.73 billion US public pension has an 8.0 percent target allocation to private real estate which currently stands at 4.6 percent.

New York State Common Retirement Fund has made six commitments to private real estate funds with a 2018 vintage, which combined constitute $1.47 billion.
