Mesirow Financial hires Verde Realty exec

The fund of funds manager has appointed William Fowler and promoted Jeffrey Sobcynski to senior vice presidents. In November, the firm tapped Schroders’ veteran Michael Clarke to lead its European activities.

Mesirow Financial’s real estate fund of funds group has hired former Verde Realty executive William Fowler to run its investor relations team.

The Chicago-based firm said Fowler, who has also worked for the real estate operating company Security Capital Group as head of investor relations, had been appointed senior vice president. Mesirow also promoted Jeffrey Sobcynski to senior vice president to bolster its portfolio management team.

In November, the Mesirow Financial Institutional Real Estate group hired former Schroders Property Investment Management executive Michael Clarke to lead its European activities. Clarke joined as senior managing director and head of real estate based in London.

The property veteran, who resigned as head of property product at Schroders in May and set up his own advisory company this summer, spent 18 years at the London-based firm and was responsible for helping grow Schroders’ assets under management from £160 million (€187 million; $255.5 million) to £7.5 billion. He also led the launch of eight indirect real estate funds and three fund-of-fund vehicles.
