“It is with mixed emotions that I inform you that today is my last day with Deutsche Bank.

When I joined the bank at the beginning of 2007, the investment world was a very different place than it is today.  In my 28 year career – which began a few years before the savings and loan crisis in the United States – nothing has compared to the market volatility of the past three years.

RREEF began with a brisk expansion into Southeast Asia, followed by a rapid contraction and my office relocated from Hong Kong to Singapore and then back to Hong Kong during that same period.

Through it all, we maintained our fiduciary focus, sold many assets at the right time and did our best to mitigate risks while maximising returns for our clients – something I remain very proud of to this day.

While I have not yet made any decision about my immediate future, as the asset management business in Asia develops, my goal is to remain in the region and continue to be involved with the industry.

In addition to spending more time with my family, the break will give me some time to reflect on the changes that have taken place in our industry and consider where it is heading in the future.”
