Lightyear promotes three in New York

The New York firm has promoted David Cynn and Thierry Ho to managing directors and Michal Petrzela to vice president.

Financial services-focused Lightyear Capital has promoted David Cynn and Thierry Ho to managing director positions, while Michal Petrzela has been promoted to vice president.

David Cynn

Cynn and Ho will continue to be responsible for sourcing deals and managing investments, the firm said. Lightyear chairman and chief executive Donald Marron noted the two have been important factors in the success of the firm, which currently manages roughly $3 billion (€2 billion).

“We’ve worked together a long time – Thierry was with us at PaineWebber and was part of the original team that formed Lightyear, and David joined Lightyear shortly thereafter,” added Mark Vassallo, Lightyear managing director. “Each possesses deep financial services expertise which enhances our ability to develop high-quality investment ideas and they are all valuable members of the Lightyear team.”

Cynn joined Lightyear in 2002, having previously held investment banking positions at Morgan Stanley and HSBC Investment Banking.

Thierry Ho

Ho joined the firm in 2000, having previously worked with senior members of the Lightyear team at PaineWebber. Mr. He has also held investment banking roles at JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs.

Michal Petrzela

Petrzela, who was promoted to vice president from senior associate, re-joined Lightyear in 2005, after having worked for the firm as a summer associate in 2004. His investment banking resume includes stints at Barclays Capital and Credit Suisse.

New York-based Lightyear’s most recent fund closed in March 2007 on $850 million.
