Actis, the private equity investor in emerging markets, has appointed Amanda Jean-Baptiste as a director in its real estate group.
The firm said Jean-Baptiste, who was formerly executive director and principal at Lehman Brothers Real Estate Partners, joined the London office of Actis to originate deals, focusing on pan-Africa. She will report to head of real estate, David Morley.
Morley said in a statement that Jean-Baptiste had worked on a number of successful investments in Europe and also in South Africa. “This newly created position is a function of our growing real estate team,” he added.
Actis announced the close of its global emerging markets fund, Actis Emerging Markets 3 in December 2008 with commitments totalling $2.9 billion (€2.3 billion).
