LaSalle veteran joins Legal & General

Gerry Blundell, who retired from LaSalle Investment Management following a 30-year stint with the firm, has joined the property arm of UK insurer Legal & General as a strategy advisor.

Legal & General Property has hired Gerry Blundell as a strategy advisor working across its funds and supporting its research team, it said today.

Blundell is working for the UK insurer on a part-time basis following a 30 years career with LaSalle Investment Management, where he was a European director.

Legal & General Property, which is headed by Bill Hughes, the former UK chief executive of RREEF, said its new hire would be able to advise on the continuing development of the division’s “research and strategy agenda”.

The company recently hired Adelaide Gray as specialist funds research manager to beef up its research.

Hughes said in a statement: “One of my core strategic aims was to increase the breadth and depth of our research output, to provide insight and top down outperformance for all our clients and funds.”

The insurer has £8.5 billion of funds under management.
