Lane joins OPERS as investment chief

John Lane replaces Jennifer Hom as the investment director of the $68.3bn Ohio pension.

The Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) has hired 25-year investment veteran John Lane as director of investments.

Lane was formerly chief investment officer for the Pennsylvania Public Employees’ Retirement System and most recently director of pensions investments worldwide for Eastman Kodak Company.

In his new role at OPERS he will lead the investment division of the $68.3 billion public pension fund in executing its annual investment plan and its long-term strategy, the pension said in a statement.

Lane replaces Jennifer Hom, who formally took up the position in November 2005. Hom retired in April 2009 for personal reasons, according to a statement from OPERS.

As of the end of June last year, OPERS real estate assets totalled over $4.2 billion, or around 8 percent of the portfolio.
