Jones Day hires partner to lead Paris RE team

The London-based law firm has recruited one of French real estate’s best-known lawyers from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.

Jones Day, the London-based law firm, has bolstered its Paris-based real estate team with the hire of Erwan Le Douce-Bercot as partner and three further associate appointments.

Le Douce-Bercot will lead the firm’s French real estate team, which will now also include associates Flavia Poujade, Solène Maulard and Alix Pallier.

With more than 20 years’ experience in the industry, Le Douce-Bercot has joined Jones Day from London-based law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer where he was also partner and head of real estate in its Paris office. Prior to Freshfields, he was a partner at Paris-based firm Gide for 15 years.

“This is a very strategic and timely addition, and is further evidence of the commitment Jones Day is making to giving our clients access to some of the most accomplished legal talent in the region,” said Sophie Hagège, lead partner of Jones Day’s Paris Office. “Erwan and his team bring extensive transaction and litigation experience that will enhance our ability to represent clients in intricate real estate matters,” Hagège added.

In recent years, Jones Day has advised a number of private equity real estate firms, on transactions and fund formations, including Brookfield Asset Management, CBRE Global Investment Partners, Kildare Partners and Blackstone.

The firm’s most recently publicized activities were advising London-based private equity real estate firm Orion Capital Managers on its latest vehicle, the €1.5 billion Orion European Real Estate Fund V, and instructing an unnamed sovereign wealth fund in its $150 million commitment to an undisclosed $1.1 billion real estate fund to invest in Canada, the US and the Caribbean.
