Hawkpoint appoints property heavyweight

The London-based corporate advisory firm that counts private equity firms among its clients has appointed former Jones Lang LaSalle European chief executive Robert Orr as a senior advisor. Orr said the potential for consolidation and restructuring in the sector was ‘very apparent’.

Hawkpoint Partners, the London-based corporate advisory and restructuring company that counts private equity houses among its roster of clients, has added a real estate heavy-hitter to its ranks.

Former Jones Lang LaSalle European chief executive Robert Orr is joining as a senior adviser with specific focus on property, as it anticipates further consolidation in the real estate sector.

In a statement today, Orr said he was excited to be joining Hawkpoint “at a time when the real estate markets are showing early signs of recovery and the potential for consolidation and restructuring in the sector is very apparent”.

He will work with head of real estate, Edward Arkus.

Orr spent nearly 30 years at property services giant Jones Lang LaSalle, including seven years as European chief executive officer and three years as a main board director of the publicly-listed Jones Lang LaSalle Inc.

For four years, he was managing director of Jones Lang LaSalle’s international capital group responsible for developing cross-border relationships with international investors seeking real estate products.

He is already a figure in European private equity real estate. He is senior adviser to Europa Feldberg, a joint venture set up to launch and create core property funds on behalf of German institutions, and is on the investment advisory committee of Wainbridge Global Opportunities London Limited, a new fund backed by high net worth investors.

Hawkpoint has offices in London, Paris and Frankfurt.

Henrik Schliemann, head of the firm’s international business said Orr’s knowledge of the German and French property markets would be particularly valuable to the firm in developing its franchise.
