Harvest Capital appoints fundraising head

In a bid to improve its fundraising and structuring capabilities, the Hong Kong-based firm has appointed George Agethen from Australia’s Macquarie Capital Advisors.

Harvest Capital Partners, the Hong Kong-based real estate investment firm majority owned by Chinese conglomerate China Resources Group, has hired fundraising specialist George Agethen to help raise funds and structure new vehicles.

He has joined as head of capital raising and development at the 35-person strong firm, and will report directly to chief executive officer Rong Ren, who said the appointment would aid the firm in becoming “one of the leading” and “most transparent” fund managers in the country.

Agethen joined Harvest Capital Partners from Macquarie Capital Advisors where he advised on equity fundraisings in Asia among other duties. Prior to that role, Agethen worked at Australian-listed real estate investment firm Stockland in its fund management business where he focused on Australia and the UK.

Harvest Capital Partners currently manages two real estate funds including the Harvest Capital Fund China, a $400 million vehicle which is currently 90 percent invested in assets across China’s retail, residential and commercial sectors.

Harvest co-seeded the equity in the fund alongside Liberty International, the London-based real estate firm.
