Forum hires JP Morgan Cazenove veteran

Richard Cotton, a 13-year stalwart of real estate investment banking at JP Morgan Cazenove in London is leaving to join Greenwich-based Forum Partners.

Forum Partners Investment Management is hiring Richard Cotton in London from JP Morgan Cazenove.

The Greenwich, Connecticut-based firm has is hiring Cotton from June 1 from JP Morgan Cazenove, which he joined in 1994 and became a partner of in 1994. He is widely credited with being instrumental in building up the bank’s real estate investment banking franchise.

Forum said he would work closely with chief executive Russell Platt and European head Andrew Walker to pursue investment opportunities in the UK and Europe.

Forum recently raised its third European real estate fund with committed capital of €443m. Forum European Realty Income III is aimed at private and listed real estate operating companies located in Europe. The fund has a strategy of investing in companies through privately-negotiated structured equity and debt securities.

Cotton said in a statement that restructuring of the real estate sector had begun and that he would be helping Forum invest its new vehicle.

The company employs 50 people in six offices across Europe, North America and Asia. It manages more than $2 billion of third party commitments.
