EXCLUSIVE: AEW Europe makes two senior hires

The Paris-based firm has hired Alexander Strassburger and Nikolas Koulouras from Carlyle Group and Salamanca Group, respectively.

AEW Europe, the pan-European real estate investment manager, has made two senior appointments to its investment team.

Nikolas Koulouras and Alexander Strassburger have been hired as executive directors in AEW's London office. They will report to Russell Jewell, head of private equity funds.

Strassburger joins from Washington, DC-based private equity firm the Carlyle Group where he was country head of Germany. He started his career with Merrill Lynch in Paris within the bank's M&A division.

Koulouras joins AEW Europe from Salamanca Group, where he was director and co-head of real estate. Prior to Salamanca, Koulouras was in the origination team at Merrill Lynch's real estate group where he covered Switzerland, Germany and France.

AEW Europe has nine offices throughout Europe employing more than 270 professionals. The firm has launched a number of private equity real estate funds since 2001 and currently manages more than €18 billion of assets in Europe across a number of funds and separate accounts.
