Ex-Tishman exec joins Carrafiell’s Alpha

Toby Phelps, the UK managing director of New York-based Tishman Speyer, is reportedly joining Alpha Real Estate Advisors, the advisory business set up by former Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing joint global head, John Carrafiell.

Alpha Real Estate Advisors, the advisory business launched by former joint global head of Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing, John Carrafiell, has recruited Toby Phelps from Tishman Speyer, according to a report by UK commercial property magazine, Property Week.

Phelps, who was UK managing director at the New York-based developer and fund manager, used to work under Carrafiell at Morgan Stanley, as head of UK investment for the MSREF fund series. Prior to that, he worked for Jones Lang LaSalle as an investment agent.

He is expected to join Alpha next week.

His duties at Tishman Speyer will be assumed by the firm’s co-European heads, Michael Spies and Eric Adler.

Carrafiell launched Alpha in September last year after leaving the investment bank at the end of 2008, following 20 years of service.
