DOWNLOAD: Q3 fundraising increases for a third year

The number of fund closes continues to decrease, but equity raised remains robust.

PERE’s Q3 Fundraising Report is now available for download.

Fundraising during the first nine months of 2019 brought in approximately $100 billion for real estate funds, putting full-year fundraising on course to be the third consecutive year of increased capital raising. PERE predicts the industry to close on another $45 billion of equity during the fourth quarter, bringing the 2019 total to $145 billion.

Meanwhile, the number of funds that are closing has been steadily decreasing. Even if 90 funds close during the last quarter, 2019 will still finish with 225 fund closes, less than 227 fund closes in 2018 and 324 fund closes in 2017.

Multi-regional funds have dominated the year thus far, accounting for almost $46 billion of the aggregate. On the other hand, just 28 percent of the capital raised was focused on North America, representing the lowest proportional figure since 2013.
