The 15 largest commitments to the asset class during the first half of the year comprised nearly $4.4 billion. Investors committing sizeable tickets tended to target North America-focused vehicles, with seven of the 15 largest fund commitments focusing on the region.
Private real estate continues to represent an important component of institutional investor portfolios. Real estate investors increased their allocations to the asset class from 8.46 percent on average at the end of 2020 to 8.89 percent at the end of June.
Public pensions are historically above-average allocators to the asset class, and were allocating on average 9.52 percent of their portfolios to private real estate as of the end of June.
