Having raised more than £11,000 (€12,500; $17,000) for Downsed, a UK-based charity which provides educational support to young people affected by Down’s Syndrome, at last year’s London Marathon, PEI Partners is aiming for another significant sponsorship haul for this year’s event.

Running this year will be Jonathan Brasse, editor of, and Paul McLean, head of databases for Private Equity International, publisher of PERE. The event marks a return to the London Marathon for McLean, who ran last year alongside PEI’s editorial director Philip Borel, but it is a debut long distance run for Brasse.

Both have been pounding the streets of London for months in anticipation of the event, which is to be held on Sunday 25 April, and have reached the 20-mile mark in their training. “This is one of the most exciting sporting opportunities around,” said Brasse, who has been inundated with advice about his debut marathon, including making sure he tapes his nipples well before the race.

The London Marathon is one of the most famous on the marathon circuit. Its 26.2 miles pass through the streets of the capital city from Blackheath, east London, to the famous finish line at The Mall.
Since the first race in 1981, 746,635 runners have passed the finish line and have raised more than £400 million.
