Credit Suisse appoints ex-RREEF exec

The investment bank has hired Susan Swanezy to lead marketing and development efforts for DLJ Real Estate and Credit Suisse's core and securities real estate arms.

Credit Suisse has hired former RREEF client relations managing director Susan Swanezy to spearhead the future development of DLJ Real Estate Capital Partners.

Swanezy will join as head of distribution within Credit Suisse’s Real Estate Products Group (REPG), a role that has been specially created by the investment bank, according to a statement. REPG also covers the bank’s Real Estate Core Asset Management and CS Real Estate Securities businesses.

Swanezy was previously with mortgage real estate company Stockbridge Financial, and until 2007 with RREEF Alternative Investments' client relations group as managing director.

At RREEF, Swanezy led client relations and capital raising efforts for the firm’s global opportunistic funds. She was also a member of the strategic investment committee, which set allocation guidelines for Deutsche Bank’s public real estate securities group, and led efforts by DB Real Estate – the bank’s real estate investment management arm – to acquire RREEF in 2002.

David Hodes, co-head of REPG, said after 23 years in the industry, Swanezy had demonstrated success in developing “investment vehicles and marketing strategies that appeal to a wide range of global investors.” Doug Weill, Hodes’ co-head, added the appointment would provide the team added “insight into the opportunities and challenges facing global real estate investors today.”
