CBRE Investors adds former GE Real Estate pro

Shaun O’Connor, joining the firm as chief financial officer, was previously with GE Real Estate as chief financial officer for its US and European units. He was also previously with American International Group and IBM.

Richard Ellis has appointed Shaun O’Connor as chief financial officer effective this month. In his new role, O’Connor will head the firm’s corporate finance, reporting and accounting operations.

Prior to joining CBRE, O’Connor was chief financial officer of the US equity business at GE Real Estate, and also previously chief financial officer for Europe. He also has held finance positions at American International Group and International Business Machines.

Last month, the Los Angeles-based real estate investment firm revealed that firm chairman, Robert Zerbst, was stepping down at the end of the year. Zerbst had been with the firm for more than a decade. He will continue as advisor to CBRE Investors’ chief executive, Vance Maddocks. According to CBRE, Zerbst had been key in transforming the firm from a domestic US operation to an international organization.

CBRE Investors has approximately $43.7 billion in assets under management as of June 30, 2008.
