CBRE Global Investors has appointed Marius Schöner as country manager for its operations in Germany.
Schöner comes with more than 19 years of real estate experience in Europe. Before coming on board at CBRE Global Investors, he was a managing director at Blackrock, responsible for building the firm’s real estate portfolio. He was also an executive director of the fund management division at Morgan Stanley and was part of the team that set up the firm’s open-ended funds business.
“He has a strong track record of building sustainable, internationally-minded businesses in Germany, which is well-suited to our ambitions to strengthen this part of our European platform,” Pieter Hendrikse, chief executive officer, EMEA at CBRE Global Investors, said in a statement announcing the appointment.
CBRE Global Investors has been gradually adding senior executives to its management team globally, as it looks to spread its investment footprint across key real estate markets. In September, for example the firm appointed Andrew Glass as managing director of its operations in Australia. Glass previously held senior positions at Singaporean sovereign wealth fund GIC and property fund manager Charter Hall Group.
As of September this year, the firm had $88.6 billion in assets under management.
