Carlyle promotes French duo

Two Carlyle real estate investment professionals have been made acquisition co-heads in France as the firm continues to invest its €2.2 billion European fund.

The Carlyle Group has appointed Agnès Riban and Olivier Petreschi as co-heads of acquisitions in France.

The pair will be responsible for the investment of Carlyle’s latest fund, the €2.2 billion ($3.4 billion) Carlyle Europe Real Estate Partners III, in France and Benelux.

Eric Sasson, head of Carlyle’s European real estate operations, said in a statement that Riban and Petreschi had spent several years in the French investment team where they took part in the first two Carlyle European funds.

Before joining in 2001 as an associate director, responsible for the acquisition process, Riban was a financial analyst in the acquisitions team of LaSalle Investment Management.

Petreschi was also an associate director in charge of the acquisitions process since 2001, working on acquisitions such as Campus Schlumberger and the Imprimerie Nationale. Prior to this, he was an analyst at French property giant Unibail.

News of the promotions follows Carlyle’s announcement yesterday that it had acquired a development site in Dusseldorf, Germany. Carlyle Europe Real Estate Partners III closed in June this year on €2.2 billion.
