German-based construction company Bilfinger Berger has been awarded a contract to modernise four schools in Bavaria’s Hof district as a public-private partnership (PPP).
The PPP involves the modernization and expansion of three existing schools and the construction of a new school. Bilfinger will also operate the schools for 21 years.
The project is expected to cost €50 million. The financing does not require any equity contribution from Bilfinger.
Bilfinger already operates a number of social infrastructure projects in Germany. These include the Burg Prison, the first PPP for a penitentiary in Germany, which will go into operation this month, and a cancer therapy center in the city of Kiel.
Bilfinger is also active in other PPP markets, including the UK, Canada and Australia.
