Aviva’s Felix forms consulting firm

The former head of real estate client relations for North America at London-based asset manager Aviva Investors has launched Solutions by Steve Felix, an independent commercial and institutional real estate industry management consultancy.

After leaving his post at Aviva Investors at the end of last year, Steve Felix has re-emerged with his own management consulting firm. The independent firm, called Solutions by Steve Felix, will offer group and individual consulting services for real estate professionals and firms.

Some of the services offered by Solutions by Steve Felix include: ‘Tête-à-tête’, a three-hour one-on-one conversation session to brainstorm ideas; ‘Marketing Guidance & Toolkit’, which helps develop a marketing strategy; ‘Presentation Coaching’, which is designed to help make presentation materials and physical presentation more effective; ‘Sculpt Your Event’, a service in which Felix works with the client to help enhance the attendee experience of any type or size meeting, conference or event; and ‘Event Report Card’, a post-event memo on what could be done better next time.

According to a statement from the firm, “the theme of Solutions by Steve Felix is to help people think differently about the DNA and the future of their business and then help them implement transformation.” The consulting firm will be headquartered in Napa, California, with offices in New York, Chicago and San Francisco.

“Clients have told me that they hire me to tap into what and who I know,” said Felix on his track record with past clients. “But I believe it’s mostly because they trust me.”

Previously, Felix was head of real estate client relations for North America at London-based asset management firm Aviva Investors, which he joined in 2008. At Aviva, he was tasked with building investor relations and promoting the platform’s funds of funds, which managed $8.7 billion in equity as of October 2011 on behalf of public and corporate pension funds.

Felix’s exit from Aviva at the end of 2011 coincided with the firm’s plan to reorganise “the way it markets and supports its clients,” according to an email jointly written by Felix, chief investment officer Ed Casal and Americas head Russ Bates. Prior to his post at Aviva, Felix was a managing director at Institutional Real Estate, where he was co-executive producer of its VIP Conference.

Besides his work in client relations, Felix also is well-known for his commentaries and for his weekly blog entitled “On the Road with Steve Felix.” He also has written commentaries for PERE.
