Aviva Investors hires former Valad CFO

Marcus Shepherd, former European chief financial officer for Australian fund manager Valad Property Group, is joining the firm in January.

Aviva Investors, the asset management arm of insurer Aviva, has hired Marcus Shepherd as its real estate finance director. He will be based in London and will report to the chief executive for real estate, Ian Womack.

Shepherd was previously European chief financial officer for Australian real estate fund manager, Valad Property Group. In his new role at Aviva, he will be responsible for the firm’s financial planning, management and reporting strategy, as well as its banking relationships.

In September, New York-based Aviva added a new head of marketing for its North America multi-manager funds. Steve Felix, the former Institutional Real Estate Inc. managing director, will build its investor relations, promote funds and raise the visibility of the firm in the region.

Aviva Investors had previously been known as Aviva Capital Management in the US, and Morley Fund Management in the UK. New York-based based fund of funds and secondaries firm, Madison Harbor Capital, was integrated into Aviva's real estate multi-manager team at London-based Morley in April this year, creating Aviva Investors.
